This advice is very general as there are separate laws governing societies in each Province. If you incorporate a society it’s best to get someone with governance experience involved. Bylaw templates are generally available and have restrictions province by province.
Soliciting donations:
It’s important to set clear expectations with all supporters large and small. Be clear about what donations, especially monetary donations will be used for. That clarity can be as simple as a broad statement that they’ll support resettlement of Ukrainians in your community. If your group spans multiple communities be clear where the money will be spent. If you have the capacity to track the funds you may need to track particular donations to reserved functions (housing, food, education, etc).
